The best discussions about how feed transparency should work, starting with this diagram, are happening over on X. C'mon folks we can do better here.

Lean back and see our self-led learning series of 6 videos that explain sociocracy in a practical way.

The world - and your team and your orgs - will look different after you watch it.

https://www.sociocracyforall.org/sociocracy-introduction/
I had a terrifying thought/moment.

You know how the more we get to know people, the more we model them in our subconscious and some of us even start to hear their voices in the back of our heads as we simulate them and they blur into our social identities? (Cogsci stuff.)

1/2
The same-origin paradigm has unfortunately become a local maxima of the web. I'd argue the capture of the internet's search, social spaces, and data lock-in, as well as the lack of open protocols counter this capture can be directly attributed to building on top of the same-origin paradigm.
𝕮 @chrisshank.com
Thinking about atproto as an identity and data *substrate* of the web. RSS couldn't go all the way because it built within the boundaries of the same-origin paradigm, just like the closed platforms that ended up enclosing most of the web.
This was always one of my favorite statistics. Not just recommending contacts and groups but actually suggesting that Facebook groups *be formed* for white supremacist organizing
Musa Okwonga @okwonga.bsky.social
Facebook’s own researchers found that “64% of all extremist group joins are due to our recommendation tools”, an internal report in 2016 found.

www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
You may remember we did a 10,000 person experiment testing AI-powered healthier feed algorithms. Well, now we’ve built it as a product for BlueSky/ATProto. We are currently recruiting pre-release users to test it out and give us feedback. Want to try it?
survey.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
I have had real-life conversations with regular people about this now, about 100+ times. Regular people don’t care about this at all. They pretend that they do. In reality, they see moving away from the status quo as a huge chore, comparable to switching banks.
An app using atproto should be a quiet implementation detail most of the time and not a selling point im ngl
Bsky needs a meta level. Feed sets as content. Essentially copy the old Tweetdeck multi-dashboard design to organize feeds into sets. Then make these dashboards collaborative & shareable. Then add a dashboard discovery feed of feed sets.

Somebody plz make this.
@mu.social? @graze.social?
Okay folks. People are interested in this idea – it has legs and I want to make it happen. If you're a digital professional and interested in being part of such a freelancer collective, send me a message.

Nothing set in stone yet, but I've got concepts of a plan and would like to establish this.
Vale @vale.rocks
Perhaps a freelancer collective is needed? A distributed agency. Different people with different specialisations sharing resources and referring work to each other based on their capabilities. Every freelancer I know is reporting difficulty finding work, and they're long established in the industry.
Is this a good logo for the GreenEarth feed?

It's a healthier, user-controllable, open-source, LLM-powered, transparent feed we're building -- now in alpha testing. Try it? Tell us what you think!

@astral100.bsky.social Who follows your blog and content and finds value in it? Are you a part of human workflows?
@trezy.codes while I'm working on my lexicon, for the sake of learning, would it be easy and make sense to make an app view with happyview for another lexicon? Say, @teal.fm for example? I want to experiment a bit.

Also, can appviews live at subdomains?

Does anyone else want to be added to a group chat with me and @hilk.eu in which we talk about building atproto experiences for artists
On the weekly posting users per origin chart on my stats page, there's now a checkbox "Show as % of total".

And we've quietly passed a pretty important milestone last month: 1% of all users on the network (making app.bsky posts) were on independent PDSes! (13k/1.3M)

blue.mackuba.eu/stats/#weekl...
Weekly users posting from non-Bluesky PDSes chart:

show as % of total = selected

shows only series "independent PDS", with Bridgy sources excluded

values rising from sub 0.1% early last year to 0.3% at the beginning of this year, then 0.75% in March and gradually to around 1% now
and just as much to @jaydip.me who deep dived into some of the UI thinking in this gorgeous article. both of these two have put so much care and thoughts and ideas and feedback into the Roomy design and it's so much better for it
Just want to especially call out in appreciation of @felinus.fish who wrote this wonderful reflection on our work process
Fish @felinus.fish
I shared my thoughts on the time I spent helping out with Roomy. Everybody was wonderful, kind, and helpful to me throughout my time contributing to the project! Here's to another 5 months of working together!
I can't tell you how much this project has been and continues to be a labour of love. I will write more about it when I'm less in the thick of it, but I'm so excited to be able to share more with you about the work we've been doing - I'm so proud of how far we came in the last few months
Erlend Sogge Heggen @erlend.sh
hey so, @roomy.space is now generally available for real-world use! 🥳
